I'm excited to share my recent experience vending at the Georgetown Flea Market in Seattle. It was an incredible day filled with art, community, and a few unexpected surprises. Here's a little glimpse into my day at the market.
The Early Start
Our day began bright and early at 7 AM. My husband and I arrived at the market early, ready to set up. On the drive there it was raining so I thought oh no, it'll be a wet market but the rain stopped before we began to set up and was pretty much nonexistent throughout the day. Thank goodness! This market was relatively small but it was filled with handmade and vintage clothes vendors. I got a chance to walk around during the day and meet so many awesome vendors. There is so much community among the vendors here in Seattle. Everyone is so welcoming, friendly, and willing to give insights about their experiences at other Seattle markets.
A New Tent Mural
One of the highlights of my setup this time was my new tent mural. If you’ve been following my journey, you might remember that someone graffitied my tent at the last event. While it was a bit of a setback, it gave me the opportunity to create something new and beautiful. The mural turned out vibrant and eye-catching, adding a unique touch to my booth. It definitely drew a lot of attention and sparked many conversations throughout the day.
Showcasing New Products
Of course, I had all my usual offerings—art prints, stationery, and my beloved hand-painted hats. This time, I introduced some new designs, including a Strawberry Shortcake-inspired hat that was a big hit. It came so close to being sold, but it’s still available for any interested fans out there! I love seeing genuine reactions to my hats. They're my favorite products that I offer because each hat is so unique and one-of-a-kind. I love pointing out that there's additional painting underneath the brim. It's such a wonderful feeling to see the pleasant shock that people express when they see the little surprise. Meeting fellow art lovers, chatting with customers, and seeing their reactions to my work is always the best part of these events. The sense of community and support in Georgetown is simply amazing.
A Fun Encounter
I have to share a fun little story from the day. I stumbled upon an art structure that matched my outfit perfectly. Naturally, I had to take a photo with it! I even placed one of my hats on the structure and struck a pose. It was such a fun, spontaneous moment that added a bit of extra joy to the day. Do we look like twins or what?!
Wrapping Up
After an eventful day, we packed up and hit the road around 5 PM. It’s always a long day, but the energy and excitement from the market make it all worth it. I'm already looking forward to the next event and can't wait to create more art and memories.
Thank You!
